Technology That Looks After Your Feet

A new product is coming to town, and it’s designed to look after your feet.

The average joe’s amongst us probably don’t pay much attention to our feet, even though they’re the foundations of our body, and we can’t walk without them.

But if you have diabetes, and you suffer from neuropathy, you’re probably tired of hearing about them, because as Orpyx says, diabetes can knock you off you feet.

Neuropathy is a complication of diabetes, where we lose the feelings in our feet, meaning we don’t even realise if we have blisters and cuts on our feet, because we can’t feel pain in them.

You could have a stone in your shoe, and carry on walking for an hour without noticing. This is a problem, since if we don’t notice injuries to our feet then they can turn in to ulcers and quickly become infected, causing irreparable damage, and in the worst case scenario require amputation.

That’s why Orpyx have developed a special shoe insole called the SurroSense Rx system. The special sensors in the insole can tell when too much pressure is being exerted on a part of your foot. For example you could be exerting too much pressure through your heels as you walk, and this could soon cause you a blister.

When the sensors detect too much pressure in an area of the foot, it alerts you through the specialist smart watch that you need to wear when using the sensors. This way you can check your feet for visible damage and get any damage seen to quickly, take a break from walking, or even change your shoes.

Foot injuries are one of the biggest causes of hospitalisation for people with diabetes, but a system like the SurroSense Rx can help to give you more control over your diabetes, saving you a lot of unwanted problems.
