Ringly - The Connected Ring

We are constantly consumed by technology. It’s a common sight to see friends and family alike in each other’s company only communicating with their phones. Whilst technology is constantly advancing the world we live in, it’s disconnecting us from reality too.

Even though wearable tech often immerses us in technology even further, some wearable’s aim to keep people connected whilst encouraging users to put their phone away. However the one common hurdle wearable tech faces is making it fashionable.

Ringly looks to provide an answer to this, having developed the first ‘connected’ ring. The jewellery encourages the user to put their phone away and receive customised notifications through different vibrations and light, which is controlled through an accompanying app.

How many times have you been out for dinner and heard your phone go off, only to almost instinctively check it? The purpose of Ringly is to only notify the user about the calls, emails, apps and people that matter the most, eliminating the need for constant phone checking!

Ringly’s ring collection is made with 18k matte gold using precious and semi-precious stones with the technology hidden discreetly inside. Although Ringly is available in a variety of colours, there is currently only one style which won’t be to everyone’s taste.

However it is a step in the right direction to making wearable tech fashionable, functional and suitable for all situations. The Pebble smart watch provides a similar function and more however Ringly provides one of the first wearable’s tailored towards females.

Hopefully wearable’s such as Ringly will reduce the distraction caused by smartphones, allowing the user to enjoy the moment they are in with peace of mind that they won’t miss the things that matter most.
